The Road to Serfdom
A Book by Freidrich Hayek
Hayek is one of my favorite modern thinkers, philosophers and economists ....If you have the time to gain a brief but invaluable education in modern politics, power, and government control..this book is a great read. If you want to get the gist in a condensed version (you typical American)..then you can read this...

It is the condensed version of Hayek's great book "The Road to Serfdom" which was a treatise on the dangers and the effects of ever larger government, central planning and statism, and how it will, naturally lead eventually to tyrannical statism, through the loss of economic freedom, to be followed by the necessary loss of personal freedom.
Although Hayek offers a sympathetic view, of the principles behind Ayn Rands views of Objective Rationalism (Hayeks book was published years before Rands classic "Atlas Shrugged"), and its foundation in personal freedom and economic liberty; he is disappointingly soft in his support of "laissez-faire" economics.
